Mom/Dad/Parents/Children's Health
We've seen many people in YL become very successful at Niche and Targeted Prospecting. Many of them of have done it without even realizing that is what they are doing. They done it by tapping into what YL products areimportant to them and how they use them. They then target to share that information to others like them who would also care about the same things. Creating a Niche for yourself and building relationships with the members of your Niche group can be very fulfilling work.
-
What is your passion? What type of people make you happy? What is your YL story? Connect with that and that could be your targeted or Niche. Learn about others like you or people who you would like to target. What group would be interested in YL's mission (Wellness, Purpose, and Abundance).
-
Go to the Mountain...don't try to bring the mountain to you! This is good advice for creating your prospecting plan.
-
-
Be creative in your Prospecting. Who are the members of the group you are prospecting, what are their interests, needs? Ask questions.
-
Below are some suggestions to Prospect to your Niche Market. Stick with it! Don't just try posting one or two things in a message board about essential oils and expect everyone to come running to you. Become a member of the group. Engage with integrity. Be trusted, be honest, enjoy! Do not join a group thinking, "Hey, what a great group of prospects!", rather know your market, build the relationships, use your scripts, detach from the outcome and everyone will win.
Where can you find groups of your Niche Market? Try places like: MeetUp.com, Facebook, Google+ Hangouts, Twitter, LinkedIn, Network Working Meeting, Google Search, etc.
When talking to your Niche and Target Market make sure you ask questions, know what it is they want. We have suggestions below, but in reality they may not care about what you think matters to them. PRACTICE your Scripts so you know how to ask the right questions of your group no matter what the Niche or situation.
Parents these days are quickly becoming educated about how harmful all the pharmaceuticals and toxins they've been pouring into their children are and are looking for an alternative. By helping them learn the amazing non-toxic products offered by Young Living, you can watch your business grow and help a future generation of children and families.
Presentations Mommy Groups, MeetUp, PTO, Expos, Facebook Groups and 3rd Party Referrals are the best way to build relationships with parents. Ideas for marketing and presentations: Dr. Mom, Medicine Cabinet Make-Over, Detoxify Your Child/Home, Are your Cleaning Products causing Allergies?
Building relationship with parents and asking questions is key to knowing what it is that is important to their family.
Products for Families include any and all of the oils for wellness care, first aid replacement, allergies, fever, headaches, stomach ache, flu, colds, ear aches, bug spray and bug bites. Non-toxic Household Products, Thieves to keep everyone healthy, and non-toxic mouth care; natural sunblock and sun aftercare; playdough with essential oils; Lavender Mint Shampoo for Cradle Cap; Lavender Nose Bleeds; Thieves for Canker Sores, Swimmer's Ear (Basil w/ Lavender & carrier oil), Car Trips (Lavender, Peppermint, Thieves, Peace & Calming), Acid reflux in babies (Life 5 Probiotics). "Gentle Babies" is not only an excellant book, but also a must have if you want to work in the baby Niche Market.
Athletes, Gyms, Personal Trainers, Yoga Studios, Martial Art Studios, Dancers & Dance Studios and Fitness Programs can all benefit from both diffusing essential oils to reduce the smells of the facility and incorporating NingXia Red for sustained energy and protein to carb ratio for pre and post workout. In addition, all the pain relief formulations, Deep Relief, PanAway and Peppermint would greatly benefit anyone with muscle soreness or injury.
Ask owners/Personal Trainers what are their goals for their business. Do they need help with pain relief or injury repair for their athletes, or would they be interested in learning about Fitness Nutrition with NingXia Red (Ningxia is the perfect carb to protein ratio for both pre-work out, and post workout and is very digestible for during workouts instead of toxic products like Goo. Ningxia Nitro is the perfect product for any athlete and many gyms/PT offer weight loss/cleansing options.
Yogis also concentrate on the healing and spiritual side of the practice. You can ask if they would like to incorporate an essential oil at the end of the yogi session to deepen mediation. A great book for Yogi is "AromaYoga". Loan your AromaYoga book to your Yogi and schedule an appointment to talk in a week after they've read a chapter or two. Click Here
Another great product for any of these facilities is Thieves Household Cleaner. Would they be interested in learning about Green Cleaning Products that kill more viruses, bacteria and mold than other green products on the market and even more than then the convention conventional cleaning products without the harmful side-effects. Would they be interested in diffusing oils like lemon, Peace and Calming, Thieves, etc. to enhance the mood of both the staff and the clients.
Many Religious and Bible Study groups already know about essential oil from the teaching of their organization and understand that God's gift are found in nature. Introduce them to the 12 Ancient Oils of Scripture. Ask friends, family, co-workers for a referral to their religious group. You can find these groups at local churches, synagogue, mosque, Google search and MeetUp.
Athletes/ Fitness

Religious Groups

Message/ Reiki/ Touch Therapy/ Spa
Lions, Sierra, Elks, Rotary, Kiwanis,Eagles, Shriners, Women's groups, Book Club are all Organization & Clubs that are groups that meet every month and generally have speakers present very month. Many of them would love to have a wellness coach come present on a variety of topics (Green Cleaning, Weight Lose, Pain Relief, Healthy Supplemation). Get Creative with your presentation names and spice them up to entice groups to come to your presentation. Don't forget to ask them what they are interested in. For example, some orginazations spread the word about Diabetes prevention. You could offer a presentation about Diabetes prevention or any other topic they that group is focused on.

School/Daycare/ Teachers

Clubs/ Organizations

College Students

Senior Citizens/ Retirement Facilities
Seniors are starting to look for alternatives and want to find relief from their poor nutritional, pharmaceutical, side-effect lifestyle. Asking questions about their quality of life and how it would look if their issues could be improved. Ask about grand children, arthritis pain (PanAway, BLM), nutritional intake, heart condition, cholesterol, blood pressure, activity/ energy levels, eyesight (Ningxia Red). Ask how they sleep, if they are mentally foggy or need an uplifting emotional boost.
You can also contact Senior Care Faculties. These facilities would benefit greatly by diffusing peppermint in the morning (energy, alertness), lemon during the day (mood elevating), and lavender in the evenings. You can use these also for Dementia patients as Lavender really helps with "Sun-down" syndrome. Don't forget about the staff at these facilities. Many of them work long, difficult shift and diffused oils would greatly benefit their work environment. Additionally, they may be interested in creating a Green Environment…see above for questions.
Loan a diffuser with Lavender for the seniors and lemon for staff for a week. Schedule an appointment to pick up the diffuser and see how it went. Create a checklist of results for them to look for. For example, calming effects for seniors and/or staff (job satisifaction).

Pet Lovers & Pet Care
People LOVE their animals and Veterinarians, Groomers, Pet Stores and pet homes can all be a bit smelly for the people and a bit scary for the animals. Pet owners could benefit greatly knowing how to care for their pets with essential oils (especially because most pet medications are not covered by insurance and can cost big bucks). Again we will remind you to ask your prospect questions so you can learn what is to them. You might think that have a nice smelling facility is important, but to them the only thing that is important is the bottom line. Will it generate more customers or client loyalty?
Ask your prospect if they would like to offer classes for their clients to educate them on natural pet care. Would they allow you to put your card in the lobby? Would an additional stream of income be important to them? Would they be interested in learning about a product that could bring their clients back and create loyalty?
Once you’ve determined their interest, you can loan your prospect a diffuser for a few days so they can effectively see the difference in the environment.
Diffuse: Peace & Calming or lavender for calming the animals and enhancing the workplace environment for the staff, Purification for the smells.
Teach: Pet Care with Essential Oils
Pet Expos: Display pet care items and oils. Have out a EODR for pets. Demonstrate how to make a eo flea collar and list toxic side-effects of commercial products. List costs comparison of YL vs. Conventional treatments.
If this is your Niche or Target market you will need to purchase some books about essential oils and animals. Click Here to view them Must Read Books

Using Social Media to Prospect Your Niche
People are finally waking up to the fact that their doctor doesn’t have the answers to everything (sorry doctors). This is where asking your questions will come in handy. If someone tells you about a health concern, you ask some questions like: "What does your doctor think about that?" , "What have you tried to do to solve that? How did that work for you?" You will hear things like, "My doctor doesn't know what to do.", "I've tried everything!", and “I don't like taking anything." Then you can ask, "Have you tried any alternative medicines?" Yes or no...You can ask how'd that work for you?" Then you ask the permission question: "If I knew something about something that could help you with that, would you like to hear about?" Yes! These people are letting you know if they are interested in trying alternative medicines. Ask if they’d like to set up an appointment...see Scripts for full details.
You can directly contact people who are massage therapist, Reiki Practictioners, Energy Workers or Touch Therapy. Essential oils are the perfect completment to many of these types of therapies. Practictioners or Spas could offer an additional fee for an "upgraded" sessions that includes oils for specific emotional or physical care.
Ask them if they want to enhance the ambeance of their space, want to clean with Green Cleaners, or want to use various oils with their practice. Click Here for recommedations of oils to use during massages from Julie Herchow.
Introduce them to Raindrop Therapy (use a 3rd Party tool) and learn if they would like to incorporate it into their practice.

Niche & Targeted Prospecting
A niche market is a focused, targetable portion of a market.
By definition, then, a business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers.
Daycares and private schools have more control over the purchases make for their school than public school and are generally easier to approach. Request an appointment with the principle or head of the school. Start by asking what their concerns are for their school/daycare. Are they interested in providing a toxic free environment for their students? Do they see value in marketing that they have a toxic free school? Will this set them apart from their competition? Would they like to have educational nights for the parents and show them how they can reduce the spread of germs and create a calming environment with uplifting atmosphere for everyone in the family? Could they see themselves diffusing at the facility to help reduce the spread of germs and create a prosperous environment for their staff as well? Would their families be interested in healthier, happy children at school and at home? Do they give gifts to their families? Would they be interested in giving an essential oil? Would they be interested having a small store?
Don't forget the Teachers. These hard-working, underpaid individuals may love the opportunity to forgo the summer job and with the YLSS website can easily create a strong stream of secondary, passive income.
Social Media done right has plenty of advantages; done wrong is a massive waste of time. You can create an online following can be a huge benefit to your business. Involving yourself in, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, InstaGram, Google+/Google Hangouts, and others (click here) give you a global opportunity to reach millions of people.
Network marketing is all about creating these relationships. Join groups that share your Niche. Don’t jump right into sharing with your groups your knowledge of how essential oils have helped you can help them. Wait and build the relationship. If someone post about a concern you think YL products could help with, ask permission to share your information.
You can also create your own social media group or Facebook page. Some of our favorites are: “There’s an oil for that”, “We stop popping pills and started using young living essential oils” and “Dr. mom essential oils”. Niche market in Facebook groups can attract a lot of attention. A lot of attention will drive traffic to your page. You can also “promote” yourself via Facebook. This is a very cost effective way to get to get more followers. Click Here to learn how to “promote” yourself on Facebook.
You can also post prospecting posts to gain interest in both your business and YL products. Posting comments like, "I love that I am able to be home when my children come home from school" or "I am finally able to breath, my allergies are gone and I did it naturally." Don't give away the farm. Generate the buzz and allow people to ask you how you did it. Many people lose great business this way because they posted something and the sell went to another distributor with better web search presence.
Another way to use Social Media is to use it to educate your downline. While some people are successful at creating a purchase from an educational posting, most are not. We find that your downline members will connect with your posts and add those items to their orders instead of attracting new members.
There is tons of FREE information on using Social Media as a business platform, try goggling for more details.

Groupon/Living Social
Be on the look out for these deal making companies: Groupon, Living Social, Amazon Local, Yipit, Sweetjack, Gilt City, CBA Local and check your area for other local deal companies.
Some of these local businesses are screaming, "We want to attract more business and are looking to increase revenue. We will even take a massive price cut to do so." Call up these local business and schedule an appointment to see if you could help them. Be creative in your questions and make sure to discover what is important to their business. See above for questions

Computer Geeks
Every day more and more people are turning to the internet to purchase their goods. Being able to create a strong online presenance and drive people to your site is important. But what if you are not that person who has these types of computer skills. You could adverstise for and find that type of person or people who would be interested in creating a YL world online and work from home.

Health Care Professionals
This group includes various professions from Dentists, Nurses, Chiropractors, Wellness Centers, Health Coaches, Nutritionists, Doctors, Naturopaths, Alternative Doctors, ect.
What is important to these professions may be very different. Some will want to know that YL is used in over 50 hospitals in the United States (big names like Beth Israel, NYC - show Dr. Merrell Video - Click Here), or that there is numerous research studies conducted on the efficacy of essential oils for a variety is health concerns. Others may be concerned how they can use it in their practice. For example, some Chiropractors may want to include it in their adjustments, while others may allow you to come in and hold monthly workshops on health and wellness. Some may only want to sell items retail like, Valor (aka Chiropractor in a bottle), Deep Relief, or BLM (Supplement that stands for Bone, Ligament, Muscle specially formulated for arthritic condition, but can assist in healing for a variety of bone, ligament or muscle conditions.
There are many holistic nurses practicing with YL and introducing YL to other nurses may provide you with a way "in" to doctor’s office, hospitals, clinics, ect. Additionally, many nurses work long hours, for much less pay than other medical professions and many would welcome the additional income for just helping people like they do all day.
Wellness Centers, Health Coaches & Nutritionists could create an entire additional stream of income from referring their existing clients to the YL line of supplements and NingXia Red. Additionally, they can help alleviate other condition their clients may have like arthritis, back/neck pain, Weight Loss (Slique kit or 5-Day Nutritive Cleanse), Menstruation Issues, Prostate, etc.
Check back to this page often as we will list more great Niche Marketing Ideas...
See below for more great Niche details to come.

Your Favorite Oil/Product
Finding your Niche can be as simple as thinking about what is your favorite oil. Many successful YL Diamonds and above started their business by focusing on just one product, like Thieves, NingXia Red, Lavender or Lemon. You could also just focus on a product line or concept like detoxifying your home, your body, athletic Nutrition, or even an oil like Idaho Blue Spruce and emotional release. What do you do when you got the product you want to work with? Come up with a Facebook name that represents your concept, think about the people who would want or need your products. Find them in Facebook groups, Linked In groups, Google+ Hangouts or MeetUps.
The first mistake to make once you find your prospective group would be to move in and sell, sell, sell! People will immediately know you are up to something. Create relationships, listen, take note of what people need, where they an unhappy, etc. When the time is right, you can say the magic question, “If I knew about something that can help you with that, would you be interested in hearing about it?”.

Expos/Job Fairs
There are Expos for just about everything, but from our research we've found the most successful ones are Niched Marketed. For example: Mother or Expected Parents Expo (this is how Adam Green found all his mommies). Job Fairs and Expos (and if you can find Niche Marketed ones, even better. For example, Nurses, Chiropractors, Massage Therapist).
Create your table with your targeted group in mind. What would they want to learn? For a mother's Expo, you could have a table with all the products for kids and babies, a few diffuser with a sign explaining the benefits of diffusing (Lavender for sleep, relaxing, Lemon for mood Uplifting and helps your child study, etc.). You can toxic products on the table, like Flintstone Vitamins, Toxic Cleaners and spray with signs on them explaining what the chemicals are and what they can do to their children (find this information on www.EWG.org).
Make sure to have a "Contact" sheet or computer where you can schedule appointments. Remember if you just get the contact, you could be possibility "bugging" people. If you get the appointment, you professionally schedule the next contact and they will be waiting to connect.

Detox Your Life: Green Home & Self Care
You can build an entire business based on teaching people how to "Go Green" and detoxify their lives with either the household products or the body care products. Educate your Niche market on the harmful effects of commercial household cleaners and body care product. A great place to start is the EWG.org (the Environmental Work Group).
Detox the Home: There are many benefits to using Thieves cleaner for both personal home use and for Professional Cleansing Services. The Thieves Household Cleaner has the required seal to be used in places such as schools and hospitals. Adding a drop of Purification and/or Thieves eo to the household or building return air filters will help purify the air and cut down on airborne toxicity.
Additionally, you could focus your Niche on Creating a complete "Wellness Home”. This could be a complete; "Top to Bottom Green Make-over" that would replace the top toxic products. It would include the Thieves Cleaner, Oral Care, YL Body Lotions, YL Skin Care, YL Deodorant (or show them how to make their own-see below), Bug Spray, Sun care (google recipes).
Homemade EO Deodorant-costing less than a dollar per batch.
Ingredients:
6-8 Tbsp Coconut oil (solid state)
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch (arrowroot is preferred)
Directions:
1. Combine equal portions of baking soda & arrowroot powder/cornstarch.
2. Slowly add coconut oil and work it in with a spoon or hand blender until it maintains a firm but pliable texture. It should be about the same texture as commercial deodorant, solid but able to be applied easily. If it is too wet, add further arrowroot powder/cornstarch to thicken.
3. You can either scoop this recipe into your old deodorant dispensers or place in a small container with lid and apply with fingers with each use. Makes about 1 cup. This recipe lasts about 3 months for two people with regular daily use.

Network Marketing Events
Networking Events are so much fun! They can open your opportunity to many professions; you may not have the opportunity to meet. Always set up an appointment with everyone you meet to later discuss how you may help each other network. Do not just exchange cards and hope for an appointment later. We’ve learned this the hard way; even professionals from a Networking Event don’t themselves follow up. Get the appointment, insure the success!
For example: At a networking meeting, you meet a photographer. You listen to the photographer explain his business and how he would like to attract you or your clients to his work. You than ask permission to share about YL. You don’t start by fire hosing information about essential oils or what a great asset YL would be to his business. You tell him, “I work with professionals to help them increase their profits and client loyalty, does this sound like something you’d be interested in hearing about? You ask questions to determine is interests. What is it he wants more of in his business. What does he do? People don’t really care what you do. What they care about is how you could help them. And you can!
So you listen…you discover that he takes pictures of babies. He tells you taking pictures of babies can be stressful…and although you know a little Peace & Calming or Lavender may go a long, long way to ensuring quality photographs you wait and ask, "If I knew about something that could help you to get the picture of the happy baby more effectively and be less stressful, would you like to hear more about it?"
Where can you find these meetings or evens? The best place is MeetUp.com. Search for Networking or Business Connecting events in your area. You can also find them online or Social Media like Facebook, or LinkedIn or just ask around. From asking, Lynn and I have found gems that we would have never found on our own.

I AM a Network Market Professional
As Jihan Thomas of TriHarmony Success Training asks, "Are you practicing small business and leading with the product, or are you practicing BIG business and are prospecting for Leaders?". If you are focused on builiding your organization with Leaders and not prospecting for people who are concerned with health issues than you can quickly grow a large organization of motivated business builders.
Here is a business concept created by Jihan Thomas. Her team prospects for Leaders and introduces themselves as "Network Marketing Professionals". They teach their Leaders to become a YL Star. They require their Leaders to enroll in Essential Rewards and find 4 more Leaders to do the same. You teach those 4 to enroll 4 new members to do the same (Essential Rewards+4 new Leaders). You continue this to your forth level. What does this equal? Diamond!
All you need to do is teach new Leaders to become a Star, then help and teach them to help their 1st level to become a Star. That's it - and you quickly be on your way to Diamond.
To learn more this approach, click here
Questions to ask any business owner you are prospecting: What are the concerns their business is having? Would you be interested in learning ways to (insert...increase revinue? (adding a retail space, enrolling members, referral program), client satisfaction? (Diffusing,YL product gifts, applying oils), enhance their client experience? (Diffusing), Use Green Cleaner that kill more viruses, bacteria and mold than other green products on the market and even more than then the convention conventional cleaning products without the harmful side-effects? (Thieves Cleaner). Would they be interested in diffusing oils like lemon, Peace and Calming, Thieves, ect to enhance the mood and health of both the staff and the clients. Would they be interested in learning how their staff could stay mentally sharper or healthier so they would miss less days (Diffuse Thieves, Lemon, Peppermint), Do they need to remove unpleasant smells? (Diffuse Purification).
