How Do You Get Started in creating your own YL Business?

​Step 1

​Know Your Why!

 Knowing "Why" you want a Young Living business is key to focusing your business and intentions.   It will keep you excited and be so powerful it will get you out of bed in the morning and motivate you. As you grow, it will evolve so do not feel it is set in stone.

 

Take a moment right now, open to the first page of your notebook and fill the entire first page with your “WHY” in large letters.

 

Next, take out a pad of Post It notes and fill 10 pages with your “WHY” on each page. Stick them in places you will see throughout the day as a reminder.

 

Only proceed to Step 2 after Step 1 is complete.

 

Need help with your "why"...

 

 

• What amount of money do you want to make?

• What places would you like to visit in the world?

• What type of job would you like to do each day?

•  What would your perfect day look like in terms of how you spent your time and what you were doing?

• What do you want to look like?

• What do you want to give back to the world?

• What do you want to be known for?

• What are the things you believe in most?

• What people can help you get to where you want to go?

• What are the things you would like to have? What are the most exciting things you’d like to try?

• What events would you like to go to?

• What type of house do you want to have?

• What people would you like to meet?

• What amount of money do you want to have at retirement?

• What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

• What things would have to happen in order to accomplish that huge dream? What do you want people to think of when they think of you?

• What people do you want to spend most of your time with? 

 

• I want to live financially free.

 

• I desire to work from home so I can spend time with my family.

 

• I want to be able to put my children through college.

 

• I want to live a healthy life and teach others to do the same.

 

• I want to make a lot of money and live a life I love so I can give back to the world in a generous way.

Step 2 

​Jump Start your Success & Schedule for Success!!!

Now that you have your "why", you can move onto scheduling for your success.  What does this mean?  You are now a proud business owner in a cooperative relationship with Young Living.  You need to know what you are doing daily to grow your business.  There are things that you should do first, like have an idea of what the company is about and that can be learned on your own.  Click Here (we will teach you later how to create a website for free just like this one).

You really need about 10 hours each week to devote to your business.  If you do not have that 10 hours, understand that things my not move as quickly as you would like. So how much time do you have?  Be clear on your time availability.  For example, you have 10 hours each week.  What will you do with that 10 hours. Plan each hour.  Get out your calendar and schedule your own pre-training (see below for "pre-training").  Follow these steps for success.  Be honest with yourself. Decide how much time you have to devote your new business.   We will get more into scheduling in "Getting Organized," but for now....schedule in your own pre-training time and then know how much time you have to actually be trained by your sponsor.  This is all basic scheduling stuff now, but later on we're going to get into some really cool scheduling tools and refining.

​Develop A Business Plan

All successful businesses have a Business Plan, yours included.  Think of it as a way to keep you focused and "on-track" with your why.  A written system will increase the likelihood of your success.  A written plan is duplicable and you can teach it to others.  It also keeps you accountable.  Click Here for Developing a Business Plan. 



Step 4

Pre-Training ....Get familiar with:

Start your pre-training by getting familiar with the Young Living website and your virtual office.  If you don't know how to navigate the website and understand the contents, you may have a difficult time sharing it with others.  The Young Living website has lots of information to help educate you on essential oils and the products YL carries.  Don't fall prey to the belief that you HAVE TO KNOW ALL THE PRODUCTS TODAY!  This will be your biggest block, your biggest downfall. We don't want that to happen to you!  You really don't need to know everything to begin. You just need to know a few simple things.

All you need to know is that Young Living has oils for just about anything.  They also have supplements (with oils in them), the Slique Weight-loss System, Thieves household products, Ningxia Red Superfood-Nutrient-dense Energy Drink, personal care, skin/beauty care, oral care and products for kids.  That's it!  If you know this, you should be able to conduct business.   A good place to start would be looking over the starter kits and basic information from the Young Living Virtual Catalog.  ​Click Here



Another way to begin your education with Young Living is know which YL products are on special each month.  There are only a few products each month on these specials so don't think of it as a difficult task.  But you don't even HAVE to do that.  You just need to know that there is probably a product to help your prospective member and know what resources to use to tap into it.   Click Here to learn about this month's specials.



Getting familiar with the YL website is important, but also getting familiar with contacting YL is also an important step in creating your successful business.  If you were hired directly from YL Corporate, you would know that it was your job to contact them.  You do work for YL Corporate in an Independent Contractor sort of way and using YL as a resource is very helpful.  Most of your questions or concerns can be answered by your Sponsor, but YL can help too.  We've found the easiest way to get a question answered from YL is to use the "Live Chat" feature tab on the top of the YL website page (either their main .com website or .org Virtual Office page).  We use this feature to ask about comp plan questions, how much items will cost to ship, when an event is taking place, etc.   If you ever have a very specific question about a product, compensation question or technological issue, it is best if you contact the YL department.  You will find their email addresses located at the bottom of the page of this website.
