CONVENTION TIPS
-
If childcare is an issue for you, YL has an amazing, affordable "Kids Camp" program. Your little ones will have the opportunity to be at convention too and learn about using essential oils as well as play games, do Arts & Crafts project and much more.
-
Attending Convention is a must in order to role model to your downline. Bring new members with you each time. If they create an excuse, use your question skills to understand if they are just fearful or really can't go. It is your role as their Sponsor/Upline to help them prioritize and understand the importance of Convention.
-
Speak to your new members immediately about Convention. Help them understand the importance of it. Promote it! Expect them to attend. If you do not, they probably will not go. If money is going to be an issue, encourage them to start saving now a little each month and get them ready to go! Don't accept excuses. Brainstorm with them ways so they can attend. Ask them if they would like your help to keep cost to a minimal. If so you can help to find roommates, recommend they look up grocery stores or affordable restaurants and plan their trip ahead to manage their expenses. Certain expenses for convention can be used as a tax write-off. Speak to your accountant.
A great way to Create connection is to make a Facebook or LinkedIn group for your downline/Business Builders. These groups can really help your Business Builders meet one another, stay connected and they can be an empowering way to support one another, teach and educate as well. Not only will this create a well supported, cohesive and nurtured group, it will also allow your Leaders a place to practice their skills.
Here are some suggestions for inspiring your group:
-
Post daily assignments (talk to a family member about the Comp Plan).
-
Ask questions for them to answer..."What would you do if someone asked, 'Why do I need to give you my Social Security?'".
-
Schedule Training Calls where your group practices Scripts together or where you are available to answer questions. Remind members that your role is to empower them, not to do the work for them. Ask them to be prepared on the calls.
-
For Example: If you were just hired as a CEO of a company and got on a training call for this new company, would you ask questions that were already covered in your training manual? Probably not. You wouldn't want your new company to know you haven't even read the material? What type of CEO are you? Remind your new business builders that this is their company and their success relies on them. They need to be prepared. If you are finding that many of your distributors are not being responsible for their own training, then gently remind them and work on your pre-qualification skills for future Business Builders. Your time IS VALUABLE. Allowing unmotivated people to take away your time will not bulid you a successful business. Speak to them, cut them lose if they cannot operate professionally and spend your time prospecting for the right ones...they are out there!
Young Living Convention
There are so many reasons to attend the YL Convention each year. First, there is the Networking. This allows you the opportunity to connect with other YL members and learn more about how they conduct their business. Use your question asking skills to discover quickly if the YL member you are speaking to knows how to conduct their business in a Network Marketing fashion, or are they attempting to work a unduplicatable system. If you discover they are working with a system that isn't duplicable, PLEASE refer them the YLSS system. We will compensate you for your referral.
At Convention you will learn more than you could ever hope to know about YL's products (there is an Product Expo where you can sample any of the oils, supplements, skin care, etc).
There is also a Business Expo where you can purchase Business Tools like books, brochures, Banners, etc. We highly recommend you take some time here as well. You can really look over the marketing material and decide if you would like to include it in your business.
Convention is such a unique experience because you will be surrounded with your peers and see others doing what you are inspired to do. Convention is powerful, it is exciting, it is a pep rally for you to go out there and share the mission of Wellness, Purpose and Abundance! It is a place where you are embraced by essential oil users (your people) and others who share your dream of making a difference with essential oils. At convention, you are no longer the essential oil girl or guy...you are just like everyone else who is enlightened. This can be very freeing.
Convention can inspire you to do more, to challenge yourself to move up in rank, to walk across the stage and shake hands with Gary and Mary Young; to receive recognition from your YL Family.
TIP
If you set up an expectation of professionalism with your Business Builders from the beginning, they will respect that and follow your lead.
They will be prepared and will understand that this is their business and their success relies on their effort, not yours. If you do not, you will quickly find your Business Builders will be all over the place and unsure what to do next. and will depend on you.

There are various ways to stay connected, but we have found some ways that work for us. We highly recommend you stay connected to Young Living by attending events and especially by attending Convention. By attending these events, you are not only learning and growing, you are supporting others that are bringing new members.
We also found that creating an online group for your own personal group is a very simple and effective way to stay connected.
