YL Lingo....
Sponsor:  You have a Sponsor.  Your Sponsor could have enrolled you, but may not have.  A Sponsor is the person whose role is to educate the new member on both the products and the business of Young Living.  Your Sponsor is the person who will receive compensation from YL for  your purchases.   Your Sponsor is your "Upline".  Your Sponsor's Sponsor is also your upline, and so on and so forth....

Enroller: A Distributor who enrolls a new Member in Young Living and receives compensation for the enrollment.

Customer or Retail Member: A Member who purchases products at the retail price, which is 24% above the wholesale price, and/or does not participate in the Young Living business opportunity. Customers are placed on the sponsor's level, and contribute to the sponsor's PV. Customers do not occupy a place in the downline organization apart from their sponsor's place and are not a permanent member in your organization.

Distributor:  A Member of Young Living who purchases a Starter Kit (upon enrolling as a Distributor) and can opt to participate in the Young Living business opportunity as detailed in the company's Compensation Plan. Distributors earn commissions and bonuses on sales in their downline organization according to their Achievement Level (also referred to as their Rank). YL does not require their Distributors to ever refer or "sell" anything, ever.  A person can enroll as a Distributor just to receive the "Wholesale" pricing.  This person is called a "Wholesale Distributor."

Wholesale Distributor: Also known as "Product User".  Unofficial term used by members to describe a member that has enrolled with YL to receive the 24% discount and not to distribute or refer to the company for compensation.

Business Builder: A distributor who is actively building a business with YL.  A Business Builder is enrolled in the Essential Rewards program for 100PV monthly.

Member:  Any person who enrolls with Young Living.  Can be a Retail Customer or a Distributor.

Upline: This term refers to the members enrolled in YL before you.  Your upline begins with the person who is your Sponsor and their sponsor and their sponsors, sponsor and so on ....

Downline: This term refers to members you personally sponsor and/or enrolled.

Sideline: This term refers to members that are personally sponsored by your sponsor on your level (a Leg next to you).

Crossline: This term refers to a member that has been sponsored by another member in some part of your upline or sideline or another YL member's organization.

Frontline: Unofficial term referring to your 1st level in your downline.  These people are sponsored by you.

PV: We like to think of PV as meaning "point value" of a product. Each item from YL has this point value that accumulates to fulfill your minimum PV purchase for your Essential Rewards Program.

However, the true meaning ="Personal Volume" - the monthly volume of your personal orders, includes orders placed by your Retail Customers.  Your monthly PV is how your qualify for compensation.

Oilers:  Name used to call people who use essential oils.

YL: Young Living

EODR: Essential Oils Desk Reference or Essential Oils Reference Guide (interchangeable)

EO:  Essential Oil

ER: Essential Rewards Program.  This beneficial program rewards YL distributors (whether they are actively distributing to others or only to themselves, aka "wholesale distributor") for placing a monthly autoship order of 50 PV or more.  Rewards include reduced shipping fees, bonus points that can be used to purchase free products and discounted products via "bundled" kits that are only available for purchase to those enrolled in the Essential Rewards Program.

Sharing: Sharing is what we call "educating" non YL members about YL, essential oils, YL Products and the YL mission. (Wellness, Purpose & Abundance).  May also be called "referring others to YL".

Rank:  The term rank refers your income and the level that you've obtained in Young Living (meaning how many people you and your organization have enrolled and are actively participating in referring and purchasing from YL).

See below for ranks beginning from enrollment and up.  Your income increases as each new rank is achieved.  Rank advancement is achieved in a variety of ways.  Refer to the YL Comp Plan for details. Click Here

Network Marketing Lingo...
We want you to have a bit of knowledge of the terms used in Network Marketing as this is the business platform of YL.  Many of us don't ever use this language, but we thought it would be helpful for you to understand as you will hear it referred to in this business.

Opportunity: The chance to join a mlm / network marketing distributorship, or another term for the distributorship itself. Or the chance to obtain product, training or services related to YL.

Warm Market:  All potential prospects for your business whom you personally know, either because they are family members, friends, or business associates.  If you make a list of these people, the list is called a Warm List.

Cold Market: Prospective Members outside your circle of friends, family, and associates.

Leads: Leads are people that have indicated an interest in a product, service or business opportunity.  Most people in YL refer to a lead as a person interested in the business opportunity.

Lukewarm Market: Prospects who are neither in your warm market nor your cold market, but somewhere in between. Can refer to people whom you have spoken to once or twice (acquaintances) or people referred to you by others in your warm market.

Prospect: Prospective members of YL (product or business builders).

Prospecting: The process of seeking customers or business builders for your Network Marketing / MLM business.

MLM/ Multilevel Marketing: Generally, an alternate term for network marketing. It can also be used to distinguish those particular network marketing plans that permit distributors to draw income from more than one level.

Network Marketing: Any form of selling that allows independent distributors to recruit other independent distributors and to draw a commission from the sales of those recruits.

Direct Selling: A form of selling whereby independent MLM / Network Marketing representatives, working on commission, sell face-to-face outside of an established retail location.

Drop-Shipping: The practice of shipping product directly to customers from the company warehouse, rather than through an independent distributor.

Duplication: The process of replicating business builders in your downline.

Home Meeting/Gathering/Presentation: An opportunity meeting or training held in a distributor’s home.

Hotel Meeting/Presentation: An opportunity meeting or training held in a rented hotel conference room.

Qualifications: Monthly quotas that distributors are required to meet, in order to qualify for a given achievement level. Quotas are usually set in terms of group and personal volume.  Occasionally, there are recruiting quotas, requiring that you bring a certain number of people onto your frontline each month.  YL does not have MONTHLY quotas!  There are however, qualifications to advance in rank or obtain bonuses and advance your earning potential.  This can be done at your own pace.  YL does not require you to do anything, unless you want to receive commission...your only qualification is your monthly 100PV Essential Reward Order.

Recruit: A prospect who has agreed to join your downline as a distributor.  We never use this term.  We give people their options and it's their choice if it is right for them.

Renewal Fee: A yearly membership fee paid to an Network Marketing / MLM company, in order to maintain your status as a distributor.  YL does not have a Renewal Fee.  You are required to spend 50PV annually to maintain your wholesale/distributor status.

Three-Way Calls: A prospecting technique that allows distributors to build a downline while training recruits. When a new recruit wants to interview a new prospect over the phone, he will 3-way his sponsor into the call. The sponsor gives the presentation while the recruit listens and learns.

Once you start talking with your Sponsor or other YL peeps, you might find yourself thinking, "what is she/he talking about?"
